“The Marylebone Project Gave me my life”

Mimi’s Story

Mimi, a former resident of the Marylebone Project from 35 years ago, visited us with her friend who needed support. Mimi expressed her deep gratitude towards Sister Pertini and the Project for helping her to rebuild her life and giving her a family away from home. Today, Mimi is a successful Admin Officer and her sister, also an ex-resident, is a Manager of a Bank. We are so proud to have played a part in Mimi’s journey and to continue to empower women like her to create a better future for themselves.

👋Hey Mimi!

My name is Mimi, and 35 years ago I arrived in London from my home in Ethiopia. I arrived with my sister and we both lived here for 4 years. I can’t forget this place, it was like a family, it meant everything to me. At the time Sister Pertini was always taking care of us – this place helped me make a new life for myself. It is very difficult to express my thanks because this place means so much. It gave me my life.
