Meet Bing

We would like to introduce Bing Liu

Bing’s story is a powerful example of transformation, determination, and faith. Born and raised in China, he had never heard the Gospel until he moved to the UK to pursue a master’s degree. It was there that he first encountered Christianity. Engaging in debates with a group of Christians, Bing wrestled with questions and doubts for months. But everything changed when he read Luke 23:34, where Jesus said from the cross, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”

Reflecting on that moment, Bing recalls,

“I had never seen or heard of such unconditional love and forgiveness. Suddenly, everything made sense, and my heart was overwhelmed with a sense of forgiveness. I thought, this kind of love… it cannot be manmade.”

Growing in Faith

Now married with two children, Bing balances full-time ministry, family life, and his training. While juggling these responsibilities has been demanding, he describes the experience as deeply rewarding. Learning about ministry in Britain, particularly in a context where English is not his first language, has been a challenge—but one filled with growth. The training has given Bing a greater understanding of how Jesus relates to people in diverse ways and contexts, something he finds truly fulfilling.

The programme has been instrumental in shaping Bing’s ministry. It has broadened his perspective, allowing him to appreciate different church traditions and approaches to Scripture. Being part of a cohort has been a source of encouragement, offering shared experiences, insights, and mutual support. “Learning from my cohort has been wonderful. This community has brought so many benefits to my training,” Bing shares.

A Meaningful Milestone

Admitting and Commissioning marks a pivotal milestone in Bing’s journey. For Bing, this holy moment represents both affirmation and confirmation of God’s calling.

Bing tells us…

“It is a moment I have been looking forward to. It’s a serious, sacred moment that reflects the church’s recognition of God’s call on my heart.”

Bing credits his training with giving him a foundation for ministry at the grassroots level, particularly in understanding how to share God’s love in ways that are relatable and impactful for different people.

As he steps into his commissioning and reflects on the years of training, Bing says…

“This has been a meaningful and wonderful experience. I am deeply grateful.”

After having served the people of the Firgrove, Bellfield and Cray estates in Rochdale as Lead Evangelist in Church Army’s Rochdale Centre of Mission, Bing is now going to train for Ordination at Wycliffe Hall, blending the calling of the Evangelist and the Priest.
