Meet Meg
We would like to introduce Meg Borges
Originally from the sunny shores of California, Meg Borges felt the call to venture across the Atlantic to Cardiff, where she pursued a master’s degree in songwriting and music production while undertaking a worship ministry internship. For Meg, this unique blend of music and theology brought together two key passions of her life. Adding evangelism into the mix made it clear that she was stepping into her God-given calling.
Meg tells us ‘Music is something that I’ve always been passionate about, even since I was little. It’s cool to be able to use something that I’m gifted in and love, and for His kingdom, to serve His church and make His name known.’
Today, Meg serves at St. Mark’s Church in Cardiff as their Worship Pastor, Head of Worship and Production, a role that perfectly intertwines her love for music and sharing God’s love. Her faith story began in childhood, but it was at the age of 12, during a Christian camp with a friend, that she truly experienced the Gospel in a deeply personal way. She began to grasp the depth of God’s love for her and committed her life to Jesus. Even as a young girl, Meg’s evangelistic gift was evident. She encouraged her family to join her at church, allowing them to grow in faith together. Her church’s vibrant youth worship band inspired her, giving her the opportunity to both grow in faith and to serve using her musical talents to glorify God and share His message with others. Her gift for encouraging musical worship has taken her to Guatemala, where she visited on several mission trips with Student International, leading evening worship and sharing the Gospel through music. She also toured Poland with Josiah Venture, a mission organisation.
At St. Mark’s, evangelism is at the heart of everything they do. One of their key initiatives, the “Free Market,” offers individuals the opportunity to select their own food items in a dignified, choice-focused environment. This initiative has grown significantly and now includes “Fresh Start,” a warm and welcoming space where people can come before the market opens to enjoy a breakfast, a hot drink, and explore the faith. Here, fellowship blooms as people connect, ask life’s big questions, and gain practical life skills through a partnership with Purple Shoots. St. Mark’s also runs faith courses like Alpha and discipleship training, providing people with a safe, nurturing environment to grow in faith and community.
For Meg, her Church Army training has been a transformational journey. It has enriched her ministry, deepened her relationship with God, and equipped her with the skills and knowledge to share His love more effectively. Perhaps most precious to her has been the sense of community. Journeying alongside like-hearted individuals has been a profound source of support and encouragement. The commissioning isn’t viewed as the end of her training but the beginning of a new chapter in her ministry, rooted in a strong network of individuals who share her vision and passion.
Meg shares ‘I feel like I’m really stepping into commissioning with a wealth of knowledge and support and a strong community, equipped for whatever God has in store for me in my ministry, in my calling.’
To Meg, commissioning marks not just a milestone but a stepping stone into an even deeper fulfilment of her calling as an evangelist. It’s a moment of trust and surrender, stepping into God’s plans with excitement and anticipation for what comes next. After commissioning, Meg will continue her ministry at St. Mark’s, confident that God will reveal the next steps on her path in His perfect timing. Wherever He leads, one thing is certain—Meg’s desire to share God’s love and inspire others to know Him will remain steadfast. She is excited and full of hope for all that God has in store, knowing that He’ll continue to guide her every step of the way.
