To support your ministry, Church Army has created a fully prepared, customisable Advent talk script and PowerPoint presentation, ready for you to download and use.
Rooted in Matthew 25:35–40 and Jesus’ call to welcome the stranger, this single-talk resource invites your congregation to turn festive hospitality into a visible act of evangelism, asking the vital seasonal question: “Who will you welcome to the table this Christmas?”
Through the story of a lady called Stephanie and the everyday work of Church Army evangelists, it helps churches reflect on the importance of welcome, mission and the hope of Jesus for those still waiting to be invited in.
How it works
When you get in touch, we will send you:
- A ready-to-use Advent talk script to help your church explore what ‘welcome’ means in Matthew 25 and the question: “Who will you welcome to the table this Christmas?”
- PowerPoint slides with Stephanie’s story video embedded, plus the video link included in the slide notes as a backup
- Practical guidance notes to help you present the message warmly and confidently
- A closing prayer and response moment to help your congregation reflect, pray and consider how they might make welcome visible this Advent
- Simple giving and collection prompts for churches that would like to support Church Army’s mission and help more people discover there is room for them in God’s love
- Built-in liturgical flexibility for Year B / Advent 2026 – If your church follows the lectionary, Year B simply means the second year in a three-year cycle of scheduled Bible readings: Year A, Year B and Year C. You can keep your scheduled Bible readings while using the Matthew 25 talk. The script includes short “Lectionary Bridge” openings for Advent 3 and Advent 4, helping your congregation move naturally from the day’s reading into the sermon theme.
