We asked ChatGPT about Evangelism and this is what it said…

The robots are here and they are about to take over! Well not quite…

One of the stories of 2023 so far has been the launch of ChatGPT, a free AI (Artificial Intelligence) chatbot powered by enormous amounts of web data and smart predictions. It’s gained notoriety for its (pretty terrifying) ability to answer requests effectively in a matter of seconds. So, here at Church Army, we thought we’d take ChatGPT for a spin and put it through its’ paces.

We challenged Chat GPT to: Write a 350 word blog post on Evangelism in 2023

Here’s what it came up with.

“Evangelism has been a critical aspect of Christianity since its inception, and in 2023, it remains a crucial part of the faith. The word “evangelism” comes from the Greek word “euangelion,” which means “good news.” Christians evangelize by sharing the good news of Jesus Christ and His saving grace with others. In 2023, evangelism continues to play a significant role in the Christian faith and has adapted to modern times.

One of the biggest changes in evangelism in 2023 is the use of technology. The internet and social media have created a new avenue for Christians to share the gospel with others. Churches and religious organizations have websites, social media accounts, and even mobile apps that make it easier for people to learn about Christianity and connect with others who share their beliefs. Additionally, online sermons and live streams have made it easier for people to participate in church services from the comfort of their own homes.

However, while technology has opened new doors for evangelism, it has also created challenges. The internet and social media can be a double-edged sword, with both positive and negative effects. On one hand, Christians can use social media to share uplifting messages and connect with others around the world. On the other hand, social media can be a breeding ground for divisive and toxic discussions, and some Christians have used it to spread hateful or harmful messages.

Another change in evangelism in 2023 is the increasing importance of social justice issues. In recent years, many Christians have become more vocal about issues such as racial inequality, poverty, and environmental degradation. Some churches have incorporated social justice initiatives into their evangelism efforts, with a focus on serving the marginalized and oppressed.

Despite these changes, the core message of evangelism remains the same. Christians continue to share the good news of Jesus Christ and His love for humanity, with the hope of bringing others into a relationship with God. While the methods and approaches may change over time, the fundamental message of evangelism remains constant.

In conclusion, evangelism in 2023 has adapted to the modern world, with the use of technology and a growing emphasis on social justice issues. While these changes present both opportunities and challenges, the core message of evangelism remains unchanged. Christians continue to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the hope of bringing others into a relationship with God, and in doing so, they aim to make the world a better place.”

Not bad for a robot, don’t you think?
