Every week, throughout the UK and Ireland, evangelists go into schools to run breakfast clubs, lunchtime clubs, afterschool clubs, assemblies and more. Amy Hayes, Pioneer Evangelist at the Selby Centre of Mission, runs the weekly JAFFA afterschool club at one of the local primary schools.

During the term, two girls, both from unchurched backgrounds, decided they wanted to start following Jesus after watching a video at Easter that showed what Jesus had done for them.

In another session Amy and the volunteers were telling a story in which Jesus prays. Starting a prayer with “Hi Dad…” to demonstrate God as a father, one of the children asked, “Does that mean that Jesus had two dads; one in heaven as well as Joseph?”

“Yeah, it does” Amy replied, “But do you know the crazy thing…?” Every eye was glued to Amy in that moment. You could have heard a pin drop in what had been a particularly rowdy session. She continued “If we choose to follow Jesus. God becomes our dad too!” Every child in the room errupted with shouts of “YES!!!” One child even exclaimed, “I finally have a dad!”
