The Amber Project

What is The Amber Project?

The Amber Project (Amber) exists to support any young person (aged 14-25) in Cardiff and the surrounding areas who has experience of self-harm.

We offer help in a variety of different ways which currently includes: counselling, practical support, singing, guitar and creative groups, together with theatre workshops.

An important element of Amber is our Constellation project which works with young people 12-25 who identify as trans, non-binary or questioning their gender identity.

Constellation offers a counselling service, help with practical issues, and weekly workshops (for young people 12-17 and 17-25).

Hear from some of the young people themselves about the impact of The Amber Project on their lives – read their stories or  watch a Q&A with Caryl Stock, Project Manager at the Amber Project from Youth Mental Health Day 2021.

If you’re a young person based in or near Cardiff and have experience of self-harm, you can contact The Amber Project. If you live elsewhere, please contact your GP as they will be able to direct you to the local support you need. A list of useful organisations can also be found on our website.

The truth is, projects like The Amber Project save lives.

We wanted to share a young person’ perspective through a poem they’ve written:

You can read more breath-taking, raw, honest poems by the young people at The Amber Project in their poetry book – Our Story Isn’t Over.
