Pioneer Evangelist & Envoy Coach for Southampton Centre of Mission

This role will have two parts to it:
- To play a central role in developing worshipping communities in Southampton, using the model of those established in Bitterne Park. It is anticipated that significant steps towards developing EDGE+ within another context will have happened before the triennial review in 2025. The role will also help to encourage pioneering evangelism across the Diocese.
- To be an Envoy Coach, who working with the Winchester School of Mission, will aim to establish at least five groups that complete Envoy within the diocese by the three year review.
This role will need someone who is experienced in creating new worshipping communities that are appropriate for new disciples and working in team ministry. We are looking for someone who loves people, is creative and fun-loving, is energised by working with people and communities and is an initiator and pioneering in spirit. You will help spread and grow a culture of evangelism, creating a community in which doing, advocating, resourcing and enabling evangelism is a shared way of life. You will have a passion for Jesus and for reaching those on the edge of society. As an Envoy coach you will also need to be someone who is a natural coach and an ability to develop others for mission, evangelism and community. You must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
Salary
£24,390 per annum
Hours
37.5 hours per week (including evenings and weekends as part of the role)
Pension
If a Church Army commissioned evangelist, non-contributory, operated by the Church of England Pensions Board.
If not Church Army commissioned, then the employee will be assessed under auto-enrolment pension legislation and if eligible, minimum contributions will be made.
Annual Leave
25 days plus public bank holidays (33 days total).
Housing
Housing will be provided with the local area, or a housing allowance provided. The accommodation will need to be located within the area of focus for the role.

Full-time, Open Ended
Safeguarding
An enhanced DBS check required and compliance with Church Army’s Safer Ministry policy. Leadership level Safeguarding Training is required – basic and foundation levels must be completed before starting in post.
Notice
4 weeks (after probation period).
Occupational Requirements
This post is subject to an Occupational Requirement under the provisions made in the Equality Act 2010 that the post holder has an active faith in Jesus. The successful candidate must be in agreement with the vision and values of Church Army.
