Lightwave Pioneer Evangelist for Suffolk Centre of Mission

This exciting new post is part of the Suffolk Centre of Mission with a focus on rural evangelism and pioneering.  This new Centre of Mission is to be hub for evangelism for the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich. This will involve training others to join in evangelism in a variety of ways and also hands-on evangelism and pioneering, providing a centre where good practice can be seen and shared. Much of the diocese is rural and this post will fulfil a vital role in ensuring the connection between the work of the Centre of Mission and those in rural settings.

We are looking for a pioneer who will be able to mentor and support others, alongside growing and developing the Pilgrim Together Community in and around Aldringham. If you are excited about identifying others who are gifted in Evangelism, especially in rural settings and mentoring and inspiring them to engage in contextual evangelism and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with the people of Aldringham and the surrounding area making disciples by building the Pilgrim Together Community then please consider applying for this post.

The role will be supported by Church Army and the Lightwave Community (a diocese-wide Bishop’s Mission order, supporting growth in local mission). The Lightwave team are ready to welcome this new colleague with support and prayer.

Salary

£12,628 per annum

Hours

20 hours per week (including evenings and weekends as part of the role)

Pension

If a Church Army commissioned evangelist, non-contributory, operated by the Church of England Pensions Board.

If not Church Army commissioned, then the employee will be assessed under auto-enrolment pension legislation and if eligible, minimum contributions will be made.

Annual Leave

25 days plus public bank holidays (33 days total) pro-rata.

Contract

Part-time, open-ended (project will be subject to triennial review and initial funding is agreed for a period of 5 years).

DBS

An enhanced DBS check required and compliance with Church Army’s Safer Ministry policy.

Notice

4 weeks (after probation period).

Occupational Requirements

This post is subject to an Occupational Requirement under the provisions made in the Equality Act 2010 that the post holder has an active faith in Jesus. The successful candidate must be in agreement with the vision and values of Church Army and the Church of England.
