Llandaff Centre of Mission

Launched in September 2015, the Llandaff Centre of Mission is a partnership between Church Army and the Diocese of Llandaff in the Church in Wales. It is based in Neath and will work across the deanery.

The Centre of Mission will be working with young people, particularly through the schools, and also with the elderly, many of whom feel isolated and lonely as the sense of close community is diminishing. Outreach to single parents is an identified need, as 8.8% of households in the deanery are lone parent households.

Since it's launch, the Llandaff Centre of Mission has focused on children's and schools' work, including:

  • setting up two messy churches
  • school assemblies
  • community fun days

The Centre of Mission's key objectives are:

  • provide a focus for the diocese in shaping strategy, learning and reflecting on contemporary evangelism thinking and practice and to establish new models of Christian community.
  • pioneering evangelism and training within the life of the diocese in order to equip the wider church in the practice of evangelism in local communities.
  • to be a safe place where people, lay and ordained can share both fear and ideas. It will be a place that encourages people to “have a go”, learn from their experience and share it with others.

The good practices developed here will then be exported to other ministry areas in the rest of the Llandaff Diocese.
