The Church was created to reproduce, says new book

News Release: 23 March 2017

Church Army's Director of Research, George Lings, is releasing a book entitled Reproducing Churches on Friday, 24 March.

The book, published by BRF, tackles three questions on reproducing Church: is it true, is it universal and is it useful?

George with his bookGeorge presents Biblical evidence that the Church has a divine calling and capacity to reproduce further churches. These young churches will have both similarities and differences to the ‘parent church’. The process involves being faithful to their past while being engaging with the present.

"For 25 years I have sat on an egg that is now ready to hatch,” says George, “Back in 1992, the conviction came to me that God’s Church can and should reproduce. After many years of research, I dared to put pen to paper to expand on how the Church can stand alongside the more popular doctrines of kingdom and mission."

The book investigates the basis for creating fresh expressions of Church (fxC) and how this reproduction contributes to fulfilling God’s mission. Using the doctrines of the Trinity, Christology and material from the Old and New Testament, as well as church history, the author takes us on an exploratory journey on how church reproduction expresses itself.

Reproducing Churches is available in all major Christian bookshops or can be ordered here
